sorry I have not checked in on this thread for some time.
I've basically lived with the warning signal to be on.
I have a 97 Jetta as my other car, and needless to say, it's giving me a whole lot more problems than the Tribeca.

My diff temp light started flashing a few times last Friday. It hasn't flashed since then, I'm hoping it's just a bad connection like most of you guys have found. I'm going to change the diff fluid at the same time, got 91K on my '08 now.

It is. It's probably the 2nd most common issue with our cars, the first being the thump going over bumps that is fixed with new front sway bar bushings.

I fixed mine last fall, but didn't have any dielectric grease on hand. Just started flashing again yesterday.

If your diff was really overheating, it wouldn't flash on and off, it would come on steady until it cooled off. Temperatures don't change that quickly.

This weekend I jacked up the back of the car. The diff was spotless however the ground connector had lots of caked on grease on it. The temp sensor connector looked pretty clean.
I pulled both of the connectors off and cleaned them.
Just got back from the same 90 mile trip I did last Friday, no light.
Just turned 91K so I think I'll change all the drivetrain fluids including the tranny filter, I don't believe in "it's good for the life of the car".
I have a liter of Royal Purple Gear Max 75w/90 GL5 or I can go the dealer and get their stuff for the diff?
Anybody have a recommendation on which would be better?

I was planning on using the Subie HP stuff for the tranny.
I found your link and booked marked it a while ago. Just haven't decided if I was going to do it that way or just change the filter and do 3-4 drain the pan and refill it.

The only hard part of doing the full flush is getting those hose off without tearing it. I've had good luck with a good pair of plyers and twisting, but it always takes me about 20 minutes of futzing before I get it off.

I recently posted in another section about flashing panel lights (rear diff temp, battery, brake). The lights flash during start-up and for a few miles. The satellite radio and Nav screen also go dark but come back. The car drives normal when the flashing occurs.

The car is a 2007 Limited with 92.000.

I pulled the ground connector for the rear diff switch, cleaned it and put it back on. Was not very dirty & no corrosion. I had the pulley tensioner replaced at about 30,000 miles.

Are there any other grounds I can clean which may be causing this?

Thanks

If you drop the lower plastic engine shield you'll see braided copper ground straps on each side up front that IIRC connects the engine to the chassis.
Both of mine looked pretty bad, I replaced them.

And my diff temp light has not come back on after cleaning the connector.

I bet it does, we had an 04 Jetta before the Tribeca and that thing was a pain.

I'll echo everyone elses thoughts on the temp light by saying CHECK THE GROUND! Mine was in really bad shape, with the light flickering all over the place.

I cut off the old connector, put a new spade connector on it, heat shrunk the wiring & the connector and put dielectric grease all over everything. We'll see how it lasts and maybe I'll get a nicer spade connector for that later (I just used what I had on hand).
