Window doesnt go up or down

2007 Tribecca B9 and all windows work except for Driver's side. I was just going to replace the window switch as a guess, until I found out its $115 for a switch!

Can anyone give me some clues to how to tell if its the motor or the switch? maybe a jump the switch somehow?

Good luck. Replacing was the only thing that worked for me...
I had same issues like the others with moving the driver’s window down. I just finished playing with this switch. I removed the whole assembly from the driver’s door, disassembled as far as I could, blow few times with compressed air in to this tiny grove, then sprayed with contact spray, moved few times switch’s lever back and forth, put all together and seems like everything works like it should.

Any of you know, what is for this connector taped to harness right under the switches assembly? (last picture)

Driver side main switch fixed Tribeca 2006

The drivers window up down on my 06 Subaru Tribeca had been tepermental for some time. Today as I was about to enter the car wash at -9C I put the window down just as it was my turn to enter to test and could not put it back up. Fortunately I got the cars behind to back up and I got out. Back home I removed the main switch - removing the electrical connector is a learning experience - by sliding a screw driver into the tapered slot at the bottom of the electrical connector (it stayed in place} pinched the two upper taps and it just popped out. Remove the tape and you see three screws to remove the buttons, then I pried open the 4 clips on the cover box and held them open with a tooth picks and slowly pulled the assembly out. You can see the slider for the drivers window is quite different that the other three windows. I sprayed some Deoxit (amazon) cleaner into the slot that and worked the slider back and forth a number of times and repeated the cleaning twice more. Let it dry. Also cleaned on the electrical connector contacts with Deoxit on a cotton swab even though they looked clean. When reassembling make sure you are line up the drivers buttons notch with the slider for the driver window you just cleaned (hold them side by side to line up. The others are a spring loaded forward/reverse switches that return to a resting position so no worries re position.

It is working perfectly now!! Hopefully no more intermittent issues.

Hope this helps.

Drivers Side Driver Window Switch Fixed!

Thanks GreggMI and everyone else for the suggestions and instructions. I was having the same issue with my '08 - Driver side, driver window switch was getting less and less reliable until it finally stopped working - in the up position thankfully. I pulled out the assembly and blew out the white housing with some air and sprayed some contact cleaner inside where the potentiometer switch was. I put it all back together and it feels/works like when I got it 4 years ago.

This is how I got the switches off the control unit:

Slide another credit/business card on the other side so 3 of the 4 tabs aren't locked, then I used a screwdriver for the last corner and was able to separate.

Spray some air in the cracks...

The top-left hole is where the driver side control is. You can see it's different from the other 3 (it moves back and forth, not just a simple toggle). Spray a little contact cleaner in there, move it around, spray one more time and move it around again....

Put everything back together and hopefully you are good to go...

Hope the pics help the next person. Thanks again to the SB9T comm for saving me $100 on a new switch.

Window control removal

I have been following this thread and have a most basic question that it is embarrassing to even ask. I am not sure how to remove the control. Is the large chrome surround pried off and does the small ring get removed first?

Remove rubber lining from the handle pocket, it hides a screw.
Thanks everyone for the info in this thread. I have the same jittery driver's window behavior as many on an 06 Limited that I just bought, so ordered part number 83071XA00A from quirkparts. When it arrives I plan to replace the part with the new one, then take the old one apart and try to clean it for a spare.

BTW - I had several Subies years back, but grew weary of the lack of power and head gasket issues with the NA 4 cylinder. I don't drive a lot, preferring to ride my two wheeled vehicles when I can, so decided to replace a more expensive vehicle which was not being used with something older. This was my previous MO, but got off track.

I knew nothing of Tribecas, barely knowing they existed, until I test drove mine a week ago today. It isn't perfect, but it's pretty good and I like it. I love the size and form factor of this car. And my bike fits in the back (rear seats down of course) with room to spare. It's a really cool vehicle.

I have been trying to fix our 06 Tribeca drivers window switch and I just replaced the switch assembly and the drivers window and all windows worked fine for about 10 ups and downs and Now the drivers window doesnt work again.... other passenger windows work fine. No fuse issues. What am I missing?
Thanks
That's frustrating!

Did you replace it with a new or used switch?

I think you are stuck pulling out the new switch and troubleshooting it. If it is working, you probably have a wiring or motor issue.

Bought a new switch from dealer online. Thanks. I will pull the door panel and get to the motor, wiring and rails.

Thanks. I bought a new switch. I think I will spray the old switch with some cleaner and try to see if I can get that working along with the 'new' switch that just failed. If that doesnt work then I am diving into the door... motor and wiring.
check the glass guides too - may be they are full of dirt and do not allow free enough movement.

I pulled apart one of the switches and sprayed with electic cleaner, moved switches, wiped it and let it dry. Tried the assembly and nothing works, now I dont even have power locks and none of the other windows work - even on their door. I pulled the drivers door panel off and all wires and tracks look good. Not sure what happened but then put panel back on and checked all fuses and relays under dash and hood, disconnected battery for 5 minutes - hoping computer or relays would reset and nothing. Divers window stuck up, passenger windows and sun roof stuck open and power doors wont lock or actuate at all.
Any way to check computer or other items?
Thanks
Personally - I would start with wiring diagram and checking that control signals/voltage/current "arrive" to door.

Not sure about which computer was the question, but multimeter should be enough for simple control signal checking.

Thanks. Finally found a burnt fuse for most of the problems I created (must have shorted it) but driver's window still doesnt work.
may be switch unit is burned?
Gonna get another switch - 2nd one to burn out. After looking in door it doesnt appear to be anything mechanical.
I was able to obtain complete functionality by taking things apart as far as I could and then using some deoxit (found out about it in the Volkswagen world) to clean things up.

Time will tell.
MODERATOR EDIT: DO NOT DO THIS. I TRIED AND THE FORM FACTOR IS SIMILAR BUT THE ELECTRONICS ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. THE SWITCH STARTED SMOKING IMMEDIATELY

For 06-07 guts are the same as a early 2000 maxima, just use the business card trick to separate the white portion with the contactors, and reuse suburu buttons, seems like everyone stocks the maxima switch but no one stocks the suburu switch https://www.autozone.com/electrical...uralast-power-window-switch-sw7266/207143_0_0
