I have a 2013 Subaru Tribeca wondering what engines I can use that are compatible to replace the one in mine that blew after running out of oil mysteriously.

3.6 (I wouldn't go older than 2012, because some avcs solenoids changed and, according to rumours, 2012/2013+ have better piston rings). there weren't generations like with 3.0.
if you get the engine from around 2013-2015 from outbacks and newer - they have nice bonus as oil level sensor

oh, and btw - what really happened? may be just get shortblock from subaru? roughly 2-2k5 bucks + labor and other parts
