Hi everyone. I bought a 2008 Subaru Tribeca with 160k miles on it. I had planned on changing all the fluids since I didn't know the maintenance history on the car. But all the fluids look great! Coolant is bright. Brake, diff and tranny fluid was clean and at the right level. Nothing about the car is wrong as well. The tranny shifts smoothly. Should I still change all the fluids? It wouldn't be an issue, but all the fluids just cost me nearly $200 from the dealership. Should I go return them?
i'd change oil for sure as you have no idea what is in it, viscosity wise or additives could have been added. Plus once you change it you know when its due for the next interval and if it eats any.
Brake fluid if looks ok and nothing is wrong with braking then wait till next recommended service interval.
Same for tranny and diff if all seems ok wait till next service interval.
Coolant I would test to see if it still good or not
google it, its simple put a positive lead of voltmeter into coolant, negative to the battery. rev engine at 2000 rpms, if voltage is higher then .4v then its past its prime
