Security Alarm on Tribeca

I have 3 main issues with this Subi and hope someone can help me out :

1. Alarm system working ?

I'm fairly new with Subies so not sure how the security system is working ? On my previous car, when I lock the door by remote control or key (while I still sit inside), I then unlock the door manually or try to start the engine. In either case, the security system will be activated and horn alarmed.

But there nothing happens when I try on Tribeca, I sit in the car, lock it by remote control and then can open the door or start the engine without any horn alarm activated !!! So just wonder how the alrm system works on the Tribeca though ?

2. Door locking function.
Another downside of this Subi is that when I lock the car, if one of the doors not to close fully then it does nothing to indicate it (except the signal lights won't flash). So I have to look at the signal lights or just try to open the door to check everytime I lock the car !!!.

On other car, I can walk away and lock the car without looking at it. And if there's a door open, the horn will cheep twice to alert me that car isnot locked yet.

3. Auto lock function :

Is there a way to activate the door lock function when the car hit certain speed (say 20km/h) for safety reason ? All other new cars have this function but Subaru ????

Cheers,

Vincent

Hi mate, unfortunately our cars here don't have the alarm, its an option from the dealer, if you go to www.subaru.com.au and you can check out the accessories.

The standard security is not an alarm but an "Immoblizer" the car will not start unless you have the key (with the imbedded chip) in proximity to the motor. You can upgrade to the shock sensor though.

Simple install but you will need to take it to the dealer to be activated and seen by the system.

I can tell by the beeps the system makes, that's what I use to though having the horn beep is not something I've come across before.

This is only something that they get overseas not in the states. It needs to be activated by the dealer though.

Another option is to just get an aftermarket alarm installed :) I find them much more effective than any stock car alarm. I'll be doing that once I get my 07 Tribeca this week.
