Did my first oil change on an 09. A few notes.

6.7 quarts is rated capacity for the 3.6 motor. Wow, it drained about that much and nearly overflowed my drain tray, so make sure yours is big enough, otherwise you will scramble to put the drain plug back in.

With the car on ramps it drained well and didn't splash or drip onto the plastic covers. Even the oil filter went well, the trick is to spin it half way off, then tilt it up so you get a good stream of oil coming out of the filter.

It looks like someone previously cut the plastic access door off from the drain plug, so it wasn't in the way when draining.

Yeah, the 3.6 seems to be much easier to change the oil on. I didn't have a problem with splashing either. IIRC I put around 7 quarts in total to fill it. I was dreading the oil change based on what I read here about the 06 & 07 change being a mess, but it is pretty simple and clean on the newer model.
