Hi All. Newbie here. Purchased a '07 Tribeca last month with many issues. Speedometer doesn't work, and a host of dash trouble lights on. Working top to bottom, Brake, ABS, Crusie, and Check Engine. On the tachometer, the Traction Control ligh tis on, as well as the low tire warning light. I understand a lot of these lights are related, and I would love to get to the root of the problem. Also, the car seems to shift erratically.

Scan revealed P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor A code. My mechanic replaced the vehicle speed sensor harness and sensors, and it did not fix the problem.

I am hoping someone here has some advice. I will try to attach a pic of the dash lights.

Thanks

Update.
Thought I would post an update, in case anyone is ever interested. I removed both front wheel speed sensors, and sprayed them thoroughly with contact cleaner. I also sprayed a bunch of contact cleaner in the hole going into the hub. I reinstalled both sensors and put the wheels back on, and took it for a spin. Amazingly, the speedometer started working, along with the odometer. Go figure. Still working after a few days, so I am hopeful that it will continue to work. Still have Brake, ABS, and Traction Control lights on the dash (local Goodyear Service Center cleared the check engine and low tire codes for me,and they haven't come back on as of yet) Now to tackle the rear sensors, but that is for another thread

Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully this will be the same cure when my time comes.

Yes, always nice to gain some insight from other people's experiences. I have learned a ton in a short time here. Great site!

(Referring to above update) I was able to carefully drill out both stuck rear speed sensors and replace them with new OEM sensors. All lights are off and everything working well!

Better you than me to pioneer a given issue. 👍 This site and the skilled folks like yourself have really helped me both retain and maintain my vehicle. It is sad that the traffic has dropped so much but this is to be expected even with vehicles that had much higher production numbers by now.

Some of this is attributable to these vehicles being rather reliable once all of the issues (which can at times be formidable) are worked out.

Some of the archived data here is incredible. On the other hand, the one hit posters are common too which is a bit sad.

Yes, that seems the case. I look at other Subie forums also, as I own a 15 Forester, and my kids own Foresters, an Outback, and Impreza. It is nice to be able to keep them running. I think one of the forums may try to include all Subies, so owners may be scattered over different places.

Hi tribecadean. I would check all the ABS wheel speed sensors, especially the front two before replacing the complete speed sensor harness at the transmission if I were you. If that doesn't solve the problem, then the speed sensor harness would be my next step. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Are you proposing the addition of an "All Subies" forum JimboK? I think that is a great idea.

Thanks.

Thank you!
My problems begin when I left my sunroof open after a 3 inch rain !
That point I lost my speedo and odometer.

i’m pretty sure the climate control panel must’ve gotten wet.

my mechanic scan my system and said my speed sensors were fine. For instance I’m using a plug-in speedometer from my obd port

so I’m using a plug-in speedometer that’s doing OK. I’d prefer to have the factory working. I still don’t have an odometer

what's wrong with nasioc?
Well to me personally it just seems too big. Too much information but not enough specialty. I hate the background colors. It kind of gives me a headache.

Just me though.
