Just do what I do, never take it out of the Nav system (unless you get an updated disc!). Realistically, the vast majority of the damage occurs when the disc is out and being handled.kooldak said:

Wanting to put the originals in my safe and just use a backup in the vehicle, I tried to do this, hoping the format would be windows. But while I was allowed to make a disk image, it failed to backup. It called for DVD+R which I had & which my DVD burner can use. No go.
Any ideas or successful attempts by anyone? Replacement originals are expensive...
OK really dumb question - where does the DVD load? I see the drawing of the slot in the Nav manual, but it doesn't show you where to find it in the car.HB_Dad said:Just do what I do, never take it out of the Nav system (unless you get an updated disc!). Aha. I saw that box under the driver's seat the other day, and thought it was an amp for the audio system. I didn't realize that there was a flap on the front that flips up to reveal the front of it! Thanks. It is a shame that the Kenwood system is using 2004 version software. Hopefully a revision will come soon, and it won't be crazy expensive.SoDealer said:under the driver's seat in the front
Thanks, I just got 2.0. The maps are much better for me, and I find it gives more side roads too - my old version just stopped and told me to follow the arrows..mls64 said:Aha.
