My first service

Had my 5000k service on Friday, cost AUS$145 not too bad. What peeved me was when I went back to the car I had oil on the inside trim of the door that got my attention as soon as I opened. It kind of stands out on beige trim. Went back inside to complain and they had it off in 10 minutes, still it shouldn't happen in the first place, they need to be more careful.

$145?!?!?! That seems rather high to me....what did they do other than an oil change?
Just a change of oil and oil filter, plus the usual inspection of everything I guess, how much does your servicing cost over there?
wow, that is expensive, of course your in Australia. here in the states, oil change at the stealership costs me $29.99. no need for inspection only after 5K.
I was going to take mine to the stealer, but in looking at the maintenance manual- the only thing she requires at 3Kmi (5Km) is an oil change. Took it to my local oil change shop and was out of there in 20 min for ~ $28 including disposal fees and such. New filter, Pennzoil 5w30- almost 6 qts.

AUS$145 sounds like an hour's worth of labor, on top of an oil change. Hope they gave you a list of all the things that they checked.

Hmmm... every Subaru I've ever bought came with the first oil change free.

I currently also get every other oil service done free through SOA service coupons.

My dealer does every other oil change for free which averages out to $17.50 an oil change...not bad. But in the meantime, how do you get such SOA service coupons?

Thanks...Joe

It pays to:

(A) Be a loyal repeat Subaru customer.

(B) Have a few contacts within Subaru corporate.

:D

Yeh this sounds about right, before I ordered mine I enquired about servicing and they mentioned this amount and said they use Mobil 1 oil (fully synthetic), which goes for about $100 down here in OZ

I win one!. In Panama, Subaru del Canal made my 5K Km check (oil and filter included) for free!
