If buying an '06, tell him to buy a Limited with Nav and Rear DVD. Even if no young kids, the rear audio/video input is useful for hooking up other devices and the nav is very useful and stylish (as opposed to aftermarket dash mounted ones).

If he's interested in the '07, it has an MP3 player plug in the center console (VERY useful) and tell him to also get Nav and Rear DVD for the same reasons as on the '06 except that on the '07, Nav also gets you a rear camera which is an important and cool safety feature when backing up.

As for the car in general, I've driven pretty much every car out there and have been a passenger in many upscale vehicles as well considering I grew up in Newport Beach among rich car collectors and I can honestly say the Tribeca is one of the nicest cars on the road in ANY price range in terms of styling, performance, and quality. It also is far quicker than some of the haters out there are making it out to be. In fact, it is faster than my '03 LL Bean Outback which also was an H6.

Long story short, it is a great ****ing vehcile and he should defientelt NOT pass on it! BMW, Audi, and Mercedes have NOTHING on this vehicle...

Nope no more younger siblings  i guess he just wants the 5 pass ltd and yeah i will try to convince him on getting the NAV system. it will be just for him & my mom. How's gas mileage though? does it run on premium or regular unleaded? Power wise? it looks heavy to me. i was gonna test drive one today while waiting for my oil change on my FXT at the dealer but cousin was off (btw cousin works for subaru dealer) so we might get some discount

anyway thanks for the reply

unfortunately, its premium only. we get about 17mpg. get the 7 passenger, same price as the 5 passenger, and when we bought ours, they were giving a $1000 allowance on trade in for a 7 passenger.

I forgot about the 5 passenger thing to a degree. In fact, I may start an open debate in another thread on this. But just as a preview, I believe the 5-passenger is a waste of time due to the point Ed just made on pricing, but also because of the lack of flexibility. If you want 5 passengers only and need the cargo room, fold the third row down! I only bring out the third row when it is needed, it only takes a second (almost literally) to fold it flat into the floor, but at least its there when you need it. Considering it is the same price and you can get more options on it (5 passenger is base only with no upgrades allowed), it is a much wiser decision. I personally think Subru should discontinue the 5 passenger as their is no need for it.

Look for this debate thread shortly, but consider these points before purchase.
^^^Yeah thats what i thought too and i already told him that but he said to me he doesn't want too many people inside the car so he just want the 5 pass. But i don't know maybe i'd still be able to convince him to get the 7 passenger maybe he doesn't want me to borrow it
:D  I started looking around this weekend and took out a fully loaded Tribeca for a drive and liked it. I have benn a Land rover Disco series 1 , 2 and am looking at buying a series 3 but now having second thoughts because of the test drive in a Tribeca. When will the 07 range be available. The one I took out did not have the revering camera which would be a most useful option. particularly as rear parking sensors are not fitted.
