I have a 2006 B9 Limited 5, Stiletto 2 Sirus Portable unit to take from home, car, office, and an ipod. I dont want to use the FM transmitter option.
I have been told that the "RSE Aux Button" in all a 2006 B9 Limited 5's came pre-wired with the wiring somewhere in the back to be able to hook the DVD package in (which did not come with mine - No limited 7 or NAV). That would be great if I can plug into that so I dont have to take the dash apart. Is this true? If so, Where can I locate the RSE Aux wiring in the back of my 2006 Limited 5?

My plan is to Audio In to that from a switcher in glove box, and attached to that switcher my Sirius portable and and ipod.
So to switch between them I would open glove box and switch between them. Any help in best documentation/diagram's to accomplish this easily in my 2006 B9 Limited 5 would be great.

Hey hwsnell,

Did you ever figure out how to install your Sirius and iPod to the RSE Aux button?

I'm at the same point you were back in August and could use some information. Would that improve sound quality (static, etc.)? I'm trying to avoid using the FM transmitter since quality is poor and the FM Direct Adapter since I don't know how to rip apart the dash. Thanks.

When the car audio guys got under the dash I was told the "Rear Aux" wiring to the back seat isn't really wired to go, so you have to follow the instructions on this forum with images to take apart the dash to direct connect to the "RSE/Rear Aux" button. Note that it doesnt really switch between two functions, even though the button says so.
I wanted to be able to switch from a STILETTO 2 Portable Sirius Satellite Radio (which I can move from home dock to car dock) to a ipod/iphone bracket.
I got an car audio company to run from the "RSE/Aux" button to the glove box. And in the glove box they put a 4 channel switcher.
I had them mount this bracket CV-71-07-G3 /VSM G3 (http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/subaru) which adds a ball joint to my dash.
I took the miMount http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/shopholders for ipod/iphone and Stiletto 2 car mount and affixed them both to a single EX-13-70 extension bracket http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/shopaccessories with the female to slip onto the VSM-G3 ball joint.

So I can remove my Sirius radio and ipod/iphone from their mounts on the single bracket or I can unplug the audio cable and remove the bracket with mounts by twisting it off the ball joint. Leaving only a ball and dangling wires.
When the mounts are up and everything is plugged in you dont see the wires as they are behind the mount. Images:

With just iphone and single bracket:

My sirus radio sits directly to the right of the ipod/iphone.
These brackets that connect to these rubber ball joints are easy to use and great. The brackets just swivel and with a twist you pull it off the ball joints to stash it away easy. But of course you can remove the radio and ipod from the cradles, but if you wanted to remove all leaving just the ball joint and wires you can.

Note - That the Sirius Radio thru the Aux looses a little volume thru the hook up, so while you have the dash apart and installing, so you dont have to power thru your cigarette lighter and Aux in, be sure to pick up a signal booster for the Sirius. Without it the Sirius wont get the same volume as a CD/FM Radio.

Thanks for all the info - your setup looks great. I'm wondering if I should try ripping apart the dash myself or not since it looks like it might be a bit of work. I've read some other threads about setting up an iPod or satellite radio and it's hard to believe that there isn't a more plug-and-play solution. I've got my work cut out for me. Thanks again.

Your set up looks great - I'm not sure that I'm brave enough to open up the dash (I don't know enough on my own about this).

Thanks for all the photos. I really like the way you have your iPhone mounted!

I took the instructions I got from here for dash removal to the audio place to give them help to do it, since they do such things all the time. Note - the cradle works for iphone or ipod. The Sirius hooks straight to the universal bracket. They have a variety of iphone/ipod/zune cradles to attach to the other half of the wide universa bracket, next to the Sirius.

I'm going to print this and take it to CarToys and say 'do this'. Anything else relevant I should tell them?

Somewhere on these boards I found images step by step to take the dash apart and identifies the back of the stereo. That might be helpful if you can find that.

Thank you very much! My wife got me XMp3i for Birdday and it came with car kit which included cradel, cigarette power adapter, external antennae, mini to RCA cable, I thought that there would be two RCA plugs somewhere beneath the dashboard or just mini socket in like on Tribeca 2007. Is there a harnes which can be bought or manufactured in order to avoid splicing of original wires? Many Thanks and Seasonal Greetings!

All you need to do is insert 4 new pins/wires. You don't need to cut or splice into any of the factory wires.

I haven't identified the 16-pin connectors that would be needed to make a plug-and-play insert harness (that you connect between the HU and the factory harness).

dwilker did find wires with the proper pins to insert into the factory i26 harness (intended for repairs). See his post #24 (in the thread I linked to above).

The close-up pics he posted (gone now) look very similar to pins that I have. I haven't had a chance to check them out at a local dealer.
