Gas Tank

Can any one validate this concern?
I was at the dealership recently and was told that the gas tank's size is 16.9 with a 3 gallon reserve tank that runs from the engine to the gas tank. This sounds very strange to me and the dealer's manager swears that he puts approx 20 gallons when he fills up. The brochure clearly says 16.9 gallons, not 19.9. Any knowledge would be helpful.

Huh?
first i've heard of this. i put about 15 gallons a filll up.
I put in about 15-16 gallons. If it is true why is that a concern?
i was hoping for a larger gas tank because I do a lot of long distance driving and the numbers on the 16 gallon would be about 300-350 miles per tank. It would be nice to be able to cruise for 400 miles+. I was trying to verify the dealership knowledge, or lack of.
This might be the reason I feel like I am filling up so much more often than on my previous LL Bean Outback. I also have had times I did a complete fill up and the fuel meter hovers near 3/4 rather than full. Perhaps a reserve tank is giving false reads?

By the way, I did a complete fill up again this morning and NOW my fuel gauge actually reads full. I'm confused...
The reason why this topic was started was that I really need to find someone who is knowledgeable of the product so that the info I received from the so called product specialist, can be confirmed. I guess the sure way would be to run out of gas and then fill up to see if that info I received is true. I know that some auto manuals will list the amount of gallons remaining when the fuel light comes on. If anyone can find that info, it would be greatly appreciated.
I want to introduce my specialist to your specialist. He told me I could shift the transmission with the seek button on the steering wheel.

Reserves are limited to vehicles without gauges like old VW beetles and motorcycles.
