Hey all. Recently bought a 2009 Tribeca Premium, absolutely love it! Did a coolant change and then started overheating. I released the pressure at the cap carefully, then googled and discovered the purge valve at the firewall which I loosened. I read it is supposed to have coolant flowing out of it, however it was just dripping. Is this because I only loosened it and should have removed it? I didn't want to loose the screw. Anyway, although it seems to only be dribbling a bit out there I tightened it and it seems to be ok now, taking it on a 5km run, in 30 deg heat (86 deg for the US, I'm Australian), with some long waiting at traffic lights and the temp gauge went only about half way (the three smaller lines in the middle of the gauge) and didn't go any higher. Would you say it's now ok? I'm just concerned about only the dribbling from the valve, but the temps seem good. Thanks!

Don't know, but every time I loosen that screw it has never streamed out....but I am a 3.0 guy. Also, I don't know if you are out of the woods yet.

screw is the same.
is cabin heating working ok?
p.s. for safety - check and/or replace radiator cap.
p.p.s. how do you guys check coolant level in expansion tank? it is mission impossible....

It's not so bad for me. Removing it is a nightmare though.

Light trick works but can be a bit hard if your resevoir is dirty with exhaust buildup from a previous head gasket failure. Really fun to clean it after that...with the flashlight trick don't be butterfingers and lose it in the reservoir like Inl did since it was so hard to see before cleaning up the reservoir.
