I did most of the install last night, however I'm having a hard time getting the wires to stay "shoved" into the back of the stereo. Does anyone have any guidance on how to improve the connection beyond the "push and pray" method? I don't feel that just friction alone will be enough to maintain a solid, long-lasting connection.

I did mine this weekend. I cleaned an extended portion of insulation, applied a thin cover of solder, pushed them into the unplugged terminal until they came out the end. Then carefully plugged it in and buddy taped it to the stock loom. I tried soldering to other wires and even a small tack but I deemed it too "fiddly". The above method seems to be working well.

I'll give this a shot tonight. Thanks for the advice.

I put mine in the armrest storage area - right between the two 12v jacks. There's a blackout panel there that you can pry up. I Dremeled out the plastic gusseting to allow the jack itself to mount flush to the underside, and I carefully drilled the center out for a snug fit.

I should take a picture of it tonight, actually...I'll be changing the oil on the thing anyway :)

If someone can post some clear, close-up pictures of connector "i26" (the 15 [correction -- 16] pin connector that you're adding the aux wires to), I may be able to get the correct pins to snap into the plug. Perhaps even the shells to make a plug-and-play insert harness.

I need to see the pins side of both plug and socket. The top, bottom, and either side of the car's harness plug would be helpful, too.

Here's the back (wires side), from kmartin's PDF install document:
Wire Trunk Cable Electrical wiring Technology
Pin 13 (where the braided shield wire goes in that picture) is the aux enable line. That pin should be tied to chassis ground (and not used for the aux audio ground).

Pin 14 (empty, next to the white wire) is the aux audio ground.

You can also use a cable with 3.5mm male to male, or male to female rather than one with RCAs -- might be slightly less expensive, and you'll only have one cable with one braided shield you'll need to strip.

I'm about to pick up my '06 Tribeca and I wanted to know, do any of the Tribecas come with an aux jack? Is it just the limited? Only ones with A/V?

The one I'm picking up doesn't have NAV, not sure if that's relevant.

Were you ever able to find the correct pins to snap into the plug?
