Did the Tribeca ever get this feature added? It's one that my wife really misses from her previous vehicle and I figured if it was added in later model years that it might be a simple swap. I know 2010+ Premium Legacy/Outback models and 2012+ Premium Imprezas got it. Probably goes for the new generation of Foresters as well, but our '08 Limited w/ Nav does not have it.

Anybody ever try this?

Mark,

The answer is no. I currently have the 2014 Tribeca Limited w Nav and RSE. The Limited trim was the only available for this MY. They never added this feature. My wife has the 2014 XV Crosstrek and it has the auto up driver window. It is a nice feature.

Rats. You would think that Subaru would have that feature on their most expensive "flagship" vehicle.

Anybody know if it's built into the electronics, or if it would actually require an entire window motor swap? I figure I'm handy enough with a soldering iron that I could make a Legacy unit work if it doesn't require something else mechanically.

im pretty sure there is a way, you'll need a switch from a nissan, I don't remember exactly from which model but look thru ebay there will be a switch almost identical to tribeca, just swap them. Someone discovered this on a legacy 00-04 platform so search sl-i and you'll know what i mean.
I haven't got around doing it myself so cannot say 100% but pretty sure it will work

I miss the auto up / auto down feature I had in my 2003 Infiniti G35. I could just aim the remote at the car, push the unlock button twice and as long as I held it the 2nd time all 4 windows would go down until I let go of the button. If I inserted the key into the door to lock it, and held it in the lock position, all 4 open windows would then close. All 4 down was a nice feature, is this post suggesting we may be able to get the Tribeca to do the same?

Oh, no, this is just for getting the window to go up on its own when you "flick" the switch inside the car. 2010+ Legacy/Outbacks & 2012+ Imprezas that aren't base models have it (the Forester may as well, I'm not sure).

Just bumping this thread to let you guys know that I'm going to guinea pig this Nissan Altima window switch idea. The lock/unlock button on our Tribeca isn't working anymore and I figured $29 to see if I can enhance the features might be worth doing before I spend $115 on a brand new one.

I actually thought the American safety patrol had come along and put the kibosh on the auto up windows years ago. I was saving an old switch from an SVX to gut the electronics out of... but this looks much easier!! Following.

No, they're actually very common on new vehicles. Every motor has a load sensor that backs off if something is caught, auto-up function or not, so there's no real reason not to have them.

W.M would this be the same as the 06? If so I can't wait to hear the results. I miss this feature.

Well, I can report this:

1. The Subaru master switch assembly says "Nissan" on the back of it
2. The Nissan master switch assembly physically fits
3. The Subaru's wiring harness connector connects to the Nissan Master switch

Despite these things, it does not work. The pin-outs are different and the wiring is different enough that I could lock and unlock the car using the window switches and literally nothing else worked at all. Definitely a fail, despite everything fitting. Could it potentially work? Maybe, but it would require way more work than is worth it, IMO.

I purchased it used. New ones were crazy expensive, moreso than the Tribeca's switch assembly.

I can still send it to you though. There's no reason to think it's not working because it was used, the mechanical parts of the switch all click like they should and it's in good shape overall.

On second thought, why don't you just hang onto that one Mark. If I can figure it out, I'll let you know how to mod. Can you tell me if all the spaces in the Tribeca wiring plugs were full, or if there were empty slots? I'm thinking the wires just need to be switched around.
I just found this, and ordered one:
