Has anyone seen this issue repaired?

I have read the FSM, have started a thread years ago, swapped panels, done testing. Here's a good place to comment on that revolving door of guesswork. I've also had a handful of people message me privately with the same issue but none have ever responded with a solution either. I would have thought at least one person had this fixed at a dealer or something by now:

I have 06 model. Prior to getting this car from my wife, we had issues with all illumination was off after starting on everything (panel, navigation, odometer). It was intermittent. Once in a while. Then I started to get a problem with dials, like described above. After starting it's O.K. for 5 or so minutes, then went dim, sometimes was coming back to normal brightness. I did order another panel (used) and replaced mine. But the problem didn't go away. So I returned it back. But now for the last 2 days my truck developed a new problem. Can't control anything from the panel: temperature, fan speed, air directions, can't change stations on the radio, can't switch to CD or FM, can't control volume, can't control seat heaters. Radio On/off still works.
I am lucky, that system stuck in AC running on high speed, because of the hot weather. And radio is on the same station. I control volume from the steering panel.
Any ideas?

I am on the same boat...HVAC is inconsistent. It works sometimes but it freezes up frequently; when it freezes up, I cannot change temperature dial or activate the Mode and Auto buttons AND the seat heaters buttons don't work....it's driving me crazy. No even the Subaru mechanics could figure out which is why I am trying to figure it out on my own. Subaru suggested I invest my money in a new car (a new Ascent) because they would have to charge me a lot of money to figure out and attempt to fix the car, AND they couldn't guarantee it would solve the problem. Needless to say I am calling Subaru Customer Service. My Tribeca is a 2011 Limited and it has performed well so far. Radio/CD/AUX work fine. I disconnected the Navigation system because it kept giving me an error related to the DISC (DVD?). It is obsolete anyways so I don't need it. I just need the HVAC to work consistently.

Continuing: Finally the weather cooled off and yesterday night I spent 20 minutes on my Subaru. I removed the control panel and as I expected nothing changed: radio continues on the same station and AC was still blowing cold air on high speed. That proved my suspicion that the problem lays with the main unit (radio/AC box behind the panel) and not in the panel (like I said before I replaced the panel before and nothing changed). Then I wiggled one of the connectors on the back of the main unit and my controls came back for a while: I could turn my AC on and off and control the radio (the dials were still dimmed). But then it's went back to not working.
So the next step is to open the main unit and check for continuity. My project for this weekend.

Curious about your findings and progress with the board? Having the same problem here and will likely need to dive into it to fix soon.

Not here and there's very little commentary about it...which is probably why you landed here. I've put 100,000 miles on this car and nearly given up - the only "consensus" I've seen shadows of is that the wiring behind the panel needs cleaned up. Doesn't seem to be the case for mine and I'm done guessing for diagnosis and repairs that never work.

If you fix it I'd love to hear about it.
