Cool Here's our new puppy!

We got our new puppy last night. We decided it was best to adopt a pet vs. purchasing one. It didn't make a whole lot of sense to me to buy a puppy when there are plenty that need good homes.

Here she is. 12 weeks old; German shepard-corgi mix. Her name is Lacee. That is what the foster family named her, so we just left it. So if any of you have any good advice, please let me know. She doesn't listen to me much, but my gf is definitly the alpha in this house.

Oh and we threw a small Welcome Home party for her.

Thanks! So far she's been really good about keeping her business outside. As long as we keep her schedule going, I think we'll be ok, but we've had her for a whole 72 hours.

Default listening issues with dogs

So if your dog doesn't listen to you all you have to do is present them with something they want. For example every time the dog listens to you, you reward him or her with that treat. My dog is rewarded by a simple tennis ball.
If tell him a command and he listens he gets the tennis ball. If I tell him a command and he doesn't listen, I show him the tennis ball and repeat the command until he listens and obeys. Once he or she normally starts listening to you, start gradually switching over from a physical object as a reward to to the inflection and tone of your voice. Each verbal praise should be over emphasized. If you have any questions, let me know. Also classes work, but they work better on a one on one setting.
