I do not remember the start of this, but the Tribeca AWD is as good as AWD gets; it is much superior to the AWD systems found on most other Subarus until 2008-9.

I have no clue what the Lincoln 4wd is like, but I doubt very much it is comparable to the Beca's. Maybe Audi Quattro is as good but that is about it. As for traditional 4wd systems, those are superior off-road but not really up to the task in bad weather on paved roads.

I stand corrected, there is a 4 wd version. The site I first looked at only listed front wheel drive. However, it isn't 'standard' here in the states.

3rd row child seats = minivan

Okay, Sequoia is very popular for real 3rd row seats...

I hope they have improved reliability. i had a 1998 Continental and i almost had to carry an spare head gasket and rear airbags on the trunk. parts were cheaper but I needed lots of them to keep it running.I think I got traumatized ever since .but that was 12 years Ago probably much better this days. also my 2011Ford Transit Connect left a bitter taste on my mouth with the tranny blowing at 26k .Again probably my luck. I know their full sizes like F150 and Navigators are Very good... Much better looking than the beca for sure

The 2006-7 Tribeca has a unique exterior design: love it or hate it. The 2008 was an unfortunate surrender to the auto critics. The 2008+ looks so generic on the outside, a far cry from the 2007-8. But, it gets the better powertrain...

I agree. I don't get the infatuation of love/hate with the B9's grill, I think my 2007 looks just fine from the front and I kind of like the "aviation" shape of it. But it's a grill... who really cares?

My personal take on the matter is that the B9 was just ahead of its time. Looking around at today's SUV/CUV market, a lot of them have borrowed heavily from the design "language" that the B9 was speaking nearly a decade ago.

Been averaging 21.3 on 93 octane down here in TX. Not too shabby, although I am driving a few more highway miles here.

On the drive down (860 miles) dragging a fully loaded 5x8 U-haul trailer, we averaged around 19.

I couldn't believe the prices of gas once I got out of CO. I'm paying $2.50-ish/gal for 93 on average 'round here in Dallas. Sure beats the heck out of the $3.60+ prices in CO when filling up.

Reading your post the gas prices are better than here in Delaware as well. Your comment about, "one of these days I'll buy a car that uses regular fuel".

Tribeca's 2008 -'14 use regular and you would still have the same dependability. The nose styling is different though.

Of course you would have to find one in Texas.

I average 20 to 21 mixed driving on regular with the 3.6. I have seen 25 mpg all highway. I think that may get better in time. I only have 8k on the odometer so far.

The comment was made because both of my cars suggest "premium" octane fuel.

Nose styling or other cosmetic designs don't play much of a role in what fuel an engine is designed around. Putting premium in a car that doesn't require it is a waste of money, IMO. Putting regular in a car that needs premium is the opposite.

Well, after all this I am not buying a used Tribeca anyway. They are too hard to find here in rural Nova Scotia and the only dealership is over 2 hours away. Next Tuesday I will be picking up a 2011 Nissan Murano SV AWD with 47,000 kms on it. The Nissan dealer is 45 minutes from me. Mine is white with beige cloth interior which is exactly what I was looking for. It gets better mileage than the Tribeca on 87 octane and has a 21.7 gal tank too. I've had Subaru's for 24 years now, time to try another brand ! Thanks for all your input.
