Since I finally got a chance to spend some quality time with the 'beca this weekend, I noticed that the brake pedal is very soft. It may be me, because my other car has big sports brakes, but it seems there is a lot of pedal travel. Has this been an issoe for anyone else?

Reporting the same issue since inception of the vehicle... it has SUV style brakes so there is some travel, and it feels just as soft as the chevy tahoe with just as much travel...with the added weight they need to redesign the brakes to handle better and be more responsive... they should learn from land rover or lexus on this one...

same thing on our Beca - brakes pedal feels soft compared to my LGT one. I think I will flush Beca's brakes come spring - have ATE blue sitting on the shelf already.

I've noticed the same feel. (purchased an 06 w/30k miles in Dec. 08)
Along the same lines, I've also noticed that the parking brake requires quite an effort to get it to hold on any kind of incline/decline. Any chance someone knows how to adjust that?

Same here. I brought it up a while ago.

I spoke with the dealer, since I had it in for key reprogramming, and they said it was normal. Of course they said that, but I guess it makes sense since it is an SUV. Unfortunately, this shop will not work outside of factory spec, so they had no other explanation. (I really need to find another shop.) I guess since my wife doesn't complain (main friver) then I won't. However, when it is brake replacement time, I think I might look into other options, if there are any.

Akebono pads, drilled rotors and braided steel lines did it for me, at least 70% better pedal feel :)

are the steel braided brake lines worth it for the tribeca?
