Yup,
I got my iMac for xmas and so far I'm loving it. I'm still getting used to the interface, but I know I've only scratched the surface. I believe I'm all set up hardware wise. I've attached a 640B Maxtor external drive for "Time Machine" and a USB hub/ media card reader. Everything is working as it should from what I can tell.
I'm open to any suggestions or comments on my new machine. Any tips or ideas how the get the most out of this iMac is appreciated. Oh, and can anyone tell me the best, easiest way to stream my vids and music to my TV?

Depends on how far in step you want to go with Apple. I am mostly a PC user but have a 2 year old iMac.
I just purchased Apple TV and that may be your streaming answer if you embrace iTunes. You hook the little box up to your TV and plug it in to your network. It finds your iMac and all the music and videos you have stored on it via iTunes. You can then select them via the Apple TV remote on your TV screen.
So for another $230 you can purchase Apple TV and then stream iTunes stuff. I ordered my first movie rental last night via Apple TV and after an hour wait for downloading it was ready to go. I think the video store is a thing of the past based on the video and sound quality of the downloaded movie. Downloads will get faster over time.
The iPhoto software is also pretty good. You can build some custom slide shows of your pictures and set them to music.

Congratulations Magic Marker, you've found the light. That's what I tell people who make the switch.
I've been an Apple user for over 20 years. I went to work for Apple a month after Steve Jobs came back and was part of possibly the greatest comeback any company has ever seen. In 2004 I retired from the computer industry and haven't looked back. Apple has done me very well in life. Today I'm just a happy end-user.
A few weeks ago I purchased the new unibody MacBook Pro which I love. We're definitely an Apple household with several Macs, iPhones, iPods, AirPort Extreme, Apple TV and probably some other Apple goodies I'm forgetting.
To your question about streaming music to your TV and stereo, Apple TV is great. You can load content on the Apple TV's drive or just link it to you iMac. We have a few Macs in our household and we can connect to anyone's music, videos or photos.
As an example of how tight the integration is I can control our Apple TV (or any of our Macs) with my iPhone. So I can be sitting outside listening to music and decide to put on something else in a matter of seconds.
Feel free to ask any other questions you may encounter. Also, you should check out the Apple Support Forums here...

Brien. Thanks for all the advice and I appreciate the offer to ask you lots of questions. I'm looking forward to integrating the entire house with Apple. We already have 3 iPods, an iPod Touch, iPhone, iMac and my girlfriend wants to pick up a new Macbook.
