I went to that site but it looks like you have to register in order to download any content. However, it says "User Registrations are closed. If you have an invitation code, click here" Do you have an invitation code? Otherwise, I don't think anyone is going to be able to download it.

LOL... your new to this arent you? These are DualLayer dvd's (8GB) compressed down to 3.5GB for the torrent.
This is 3,500 MB... rapidshare and mediafire are 100mb uploads. It would be sutpid to do 70 partial uploads in order to do both discs. Not to mention you would have to wait until each file finished before you could start the next (unless you have a paid rapidshare account). Once there are a few seed's on the torrent, the download would probably be faster as well.
Have you tried posting it on Rapidshare or Mediafire?

Hey argonavt
From what I understand both the US East and US West discs have all of Canada on them. So it does not matter which one we use in Canada.
not sure what you meant about RapidShare, but the files are around 4Gb compressed and 7GB - it's a DL DVD ISO file.
Either way, somebody either seed the torrent or help us with a new location.
Thanks.

do you know any source to dwnload or to buy (in reasonable price) canada maps for Subaru ?

That is so true. The reason I delete the torrents usually is because usually it data that I prefer not to upload. The rule here in Canada is OK to Download but bad to upload. I know people that have received emails from their service provider saying that a Hollywood studio has said someone on their IP was uploading a movie.
This is an exception, anyone need this I will try to help out the community. This site provides great info and I definitely don't mind giving back.

If I were to download this...
I [would have] got the same thing, but would be able to extract the data using WinRAR;)(open winrar, browse to the archive... click on it and select "extract"). I'm guessing it's because the original author used a Mac, because rumor has it there is Mac and .Dstore files once extracted.
Mac's are for graphics and email.. not P2P ppl.
On another note... can anyone with a V3 disc confirm the version # in their nav system? my orignal 1.1 discs are "2004 v1.1". I hear these V3's are "2007 v1".

Just burned and tested new disk. Everything works great! Thank you!
FYI, used WinRar to unzip, and Memorex DVD-R+ DL, file 8690 is East, 8680 West.
It is 2007 v1 (3100).
First impression, not much is updated for Boston area (old maps were pretty much unusable). My home address is not there and the street for new Boston Convention Center still does not exist. But we will see more tomorrow.

Well I had to wait a few days to get a new computer with a DualLayer DVD drive before I could burn them. I did burn a couple of coasters before I was able to get it to work. Once it worked I had to keep inserting the West disc before the drive would recognized it. I'm not really sure why. The DVD-DL discs are Memorex and cost $30.
Once recognized the discs appeared to work fine. I too noticed the discrepancy in the version numbers. Here's some screen shots for reference. If anyone has the actual 3.0 disc can you post pics of your screen. I'm curious how they compare.

Hi Bueller,
I used DVD Decrypter to burn. It's a great tool to read or write DVD ISO images.
So i used DVD decrypter and it burned... Problem is when I loaded the DVD into the drive it read ok... when you type in a destination it and hit calculate it stays in a loop finding the best route... when i place the 2.0 original oem DVD in it does just fine... is there an issue with DVD East?

I used the east without issue. I used ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com/) which is freeware to burn ISO's.

I could be that you used DVD- discs... "-" is usually used for video where "+" is ususally for data. I've used DVD+DL without issue.

After my last post I continued to have problems with the West Coast disc not being recognized on a regular basis. So I burned another disc which has worked fine for over a week.
Also, the discs I used are Memorex DVD+R DL. I think I got them at Staples. They sell them in a 5-pack and 25-pack. I almost bought the 5-pack thinking I wouldn't need DL discs for anything else. But taking into account the number of coasters I burned I'm really glad I got the 25-pack.

Success... Not reallly... so got it to work somewhat...and I am using DVD DL+ everything loads up fine... but still the issue of inputing an address doesn't work... I hit the button and it just sits there... even when i enter a save point to go to it gets stuck in a calculate route... At this point I will pay someone to mail me the east dvd... any takers?

My wife and I have both noticed the screen seems dimmer since using the new version 3 copies. I don't see how that could affect the screen brightness, but it is noticeably dimmer. Obviously I have adjusted the screen brightness which helps. But even at the highest (washed-out) level it's still not as bright as it used to be. Bear in mind, Becca is only 8 months old.
I did try putting in the v.2 disc and switched them back and forth. But then I couldn't see any difference. So it's either a coincidence that the screen started turning darker since using the new software or it's something with the version 3 software.
To those using the new software have you noticed any difference to your screen's brightness/contrast?

Depending on the weather and such, I see you are in Cali. I'm in NJ and the morning and nighs are now steadily below freezing The temperature will affect the LCD touch screens "brightness" until the lcd warms up.

As B9LTD83 said, it's probably weather related. Nav discs cannot change your overall screen brightness. I would hope thats your cause... otheriwse mine did the same thing about the time my monitor went bad due to weather(wich was before the v3 discs). http://www.sb9t.com/forums/showthread.php?t=750

Ya I was wondering if the weather was playing a part in it. Our nights are probably in the 40's with the car garaged at night.
We still have plenty of time to get it fixed under the warranty if it's defective. So we'll wait it out and see if it gets worse over time. I was just curious if anyone else had noticed the same thing.

It's proably slow because most have stopped seeding(you're a little late to the table so to speak). I can fire mine up tonight to try and help you with the speed. There is no way to just get the East disc. Sadly the original poster smashed them together in a single archive.
Thanks....it has increased speed just now to 200-400 k/s which is decent considering I don't have port forwarding figured out due to my complex 2 router network.
All help is appreciated.

Wow man don't complain. I was only getting 80 k/s on average took like a day and a half at least, LOL. If i remember when i get home I'll re-add the torrent to help you and others out.
Well, it downloaded fairly quick....7-8 hours but it has some kind of error...the archive won't open. I think I messed it up when I was trying to get a port open on my routers to speed it up...it stopped and started a couple of times.....now I have to start over and I'm getting no speed at all

Try using a file decompression software that will expand .sit files (i.e. Stuffit Expander). I believe that was what the original files were compressed with.
Thanks to the seeders! I initially thought I had a corrupt download but thanks to the other messages in the thread I was able to figure out the problem. Burned to Verbatim DL disc and it is showing up 2007 ver 1. Seems like we should be due for another update given that it is now 2009.

My first question is there a way speed up the download?
What are seeds?

Theres lots of small things you can tweek to get more speed from your end, the main one being port forwarding to the computer downloading the torrent, if you have a router after your internet modem.
You could google a bunch of diffrent things (e.g. http://torrentfreak.com/speed-up-your-torrents/) (http://torrentfreak.com/speed-up-your-torrents/). However, ultimatly speed comes from the amount of peers and seeds, and that you can't really control. A "seed" is someone with a full copy of what your downloading, a "peer" is someone with an incomplete copy. However a peer could have up to 99.9% of the file and still be called a peer.
The disc you download and burn will replace the disc you have in your DVD unit.

You load the disc in the drive located under the drivers seat, flap flips up, it's like a PC DVD Drive under there.
As for the technical questions, awd_envy I think covered them.

So I've been using the West coast copy for a year now with no problems. And then the other day I went to put in an address and the Nav's Address button wouldn't respond. The button would illuminate when pressed, but it wouldn't open the next screen to put in the address. I was also unable to pull up any of the previously stored POI's. It was like the buttons to access certain screens stopped working.
After trying to use it again last night I encountered the same issue. So today I thought I'd spend some time and see what's going on. I reset the Nav to the system defaults and the problem persists. But here's where it gets weird, I put the Original 2.0 DVD in and it worked fine. I switched the original and the copy back and forth the with same results. For whatever reason, the copy is no longer working. I left the original 2.0 DVD in the car for now to see if the same problem comes back. If the original 2.0 disc stops working then I'll know it's the Navigation unit which is under warranty.
Has anyone else had any problems with their 3.0 copy not working all of a sudden?
awd_envy

I've had no issues.
Perhaps try burning it again on a different brand of media? While it doesn't make perfect logical sense, neither does your situation. The only thing I can think of is the drive reader is occasionally having issues with the dual layer media you used. Perhaps its a temperature/humidity issue, or maybe the laser is weakened/going out? I could see these as a minute possibility if the data (buttons position info) was on the second layer of the dvd. Who knows, maybe it could be dust on the lens?!
Basically we know the data is good and we know the data doesnt change; so try to look at the other variables.

I used Maxell DL DVDs. Oddly enough the first one screwed up at 42% when I tried to burn it at 2X, but worked fine at 8X; go figure.
This disc was a definite improvement over the version 1.1 I was useing here in south western Ontario. Now if I cuold only find a copy of version 5 to try out.
