So my dealer is looking to push out some cars. I happened to be in the showroom waiting for some work on the B9 and test drove a new 08 Outback Sport. I liked it a lot and was kind of looking for a replacement for my 04 Civic.

He offered me $200 under invoice and dealer cost for any accessories with no install fees.

What do you guys think? I need to do the deal by Wed the 30th. We'll also should qualify for 4.9% financing.

I'm thinking you can prob push him for more than $200 below invoice. But the dealer cost for accessories and no install fees would be awesome as long as you are getting stuff for it. Although i'm not a big fan of the two-tone paint available for the car. I was at my dealership over the weekend for my first service and wanted to test drive the STI but my salesman was too busy. :(

My dealer is very easy going. I can test drive almost anything with no dealer in the car. They just give me the keys and let me go on my way.

I typically never like two tone paint, but this one works for me. Newport Blue Pearl over silver.

I have no problem with twoo-tone paint, I just think it needs to follow lines actually on the vehicle. The part that bothers me the most is over the wheel wells. If they did this same paint treatment on the '08 STI body, it'd look great because the two tone would follow the flares and make sense. As for the OB Sport, it never made sense in the product line as it was kind of an inbred result of two sperate product lines. However, I must say, the OB Sport looks nicer that the base Impreza/WRX and it really comes down to the standard alloy wheels, and the door guards the OB Sport has standard.

Went back to the dealer last night to test drive it again with a friend and my girlfriend in the back. It was raining pretty hard and plenty of puddles. The Outback did great (as expected). Much better handling in water then my Civic.

The only thing I will have to get used to is the gauge cluster illumination. My Civic and the B9 have red needles w/ white numbers (I prefer that) whereas the OB has red needles and red numbers. Subaru also deleted the temp gauge with a new temp light. A little temp symbol shines blue when cold, orange when hot and red if close to overheating. I would have also preferred darker carpeting, but I guess I will learn to live with taupe/ivory.

So there are a few small stupid things I wish would be different, but the car is still very nice. The numbers make sense and it is a great time to sell the Civic. I guess I'm feeling a little wary since I'll be signing away $22k out the door. My first car was only $11k, 2nd car 13k and current Civic $13k.

Any comments/ suggestions?

Hey...don't get the OB just because it's a "good deal". You can always get a good deal at any time, especially if you have a good relationship with your dealer. Your car payment will obviously be a lot higher and if you don't have any probs with your Civic, might as well wait till it's paid off.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't like getting new cars until all the circumstances are right...just too much money involved to be frivolous IMHO.

Thanks for the advice. I've been mulling it over with my gf and my buddy. We are going to go ahead and get the OB tomorrow. It's going to be a great addition to our Subie family.

We went from a Honda family and slowly migrated to Subaru after the B9. Subaru makes some damn good cars. On a side note, I've seen a lot of new 2009 Foresters on the road lately. My dealer says they are flying out of the lot. I have yet to see any 08 OBS yet.

I'm having the dealer add the armrest extension (a must, the stock one is wayyy to low), auto dim/ compass rear view mirror, remote start and subwoofer/amplifier.
