Snake oil, There would be no reason to create turbulence in the area it's installed. These things crop up a lot as gas prices go higher. We do have something in Scooby motors called tumble generators. I've attached a pic but there is more detail here:

Lots of people remove the system too for more performance. The thought is even open the butterfly valve affords some resistance to flow.

I have to admit, I am curious about them, that's for sure.
Who doesn't want to save a couple of bucks on fuel prices these days?
particularly those of us who prefer to drive AWD SUVs like our dear tribecas.

I'd like to hear from anyone who has had *any* luck getting better fuel mileage....... if you are out there, what did the trick for you?

The only way to save gas on a B9 is to go easy on the throttle and coast a lot! I've heard some crazy hypermilers (not in B9s btw) actually get a car going a decent speed, turn OFF the engine and coast a bit. When they need power, they turn the key again. Crazy hypermilers!

well the only way I could ever afford the fuel bill is that my wife doesn't work, and I vanpool to work every day.... and honestly we only put about 4000-5000 miles on the car per year.
So that's about $937 in fuel costs per year for us. Not too bad.

I wonder if there is any difference in gas mileage between the 3.0L and the 3.6L SUbaru engines?

I'm buying..... We bout a Toyoya Camry 3 years abou and my wife only put $3,500 miles on it last year. We live in a small town (Monroe, WA) so we walk most place or drive only short distances.
I commute to Redmond, WA every day but that's in a vanpool so we don't put a lot of miles on our vehicles.

However, despite the tame climate we do need AWD occassionally ....particularly for mountain biking, snowboarding, etc.
Plus it is very very hilly around here, so when it does ice up, things get tricky fast.

I wonder if AWD is any better than 4WD???
