how do you control it? I love subie for their quirkyness but this one has me stumped!

I've noticed that some air blows out from it. There doesn't seem to be any controls for it though.

In the owner's manual for mine, that center 'vent' is pictured with the little directional controls...but it doesn't have it.

I don't have NAV, but wondered if the vent/hibachi/paper shredder thing did have it in the NAV equipped ones.

Nope, no directional controls on my 07 w/ navi. From looking through the manual it just appears to be an extra vent that air comes through when sent dash mode. IMHO it was probably designed to be more decorative than functional.

I like the hibachi idea. Now we need a separate heat control for that vent.

You wont feel air coming from that vent until the setting is turned up high.

It seems that I can only get a decent volume of air out of the hibachi vent by setting it to defrost. I get a very small amount when set to middle vents.
