Hi everybody,

My Subaru dealer has sent me a letter offering to buy back my '06 Tribeca at $2,000 over book value because they have a need for their used car market. They're offering to upgrade me to an '07/'08 Tribeca. I love my '06 but would LOVE to get an '07 with the mesh grill, up front AUX connector and memory seats. Don't dig the '08 at all (except for the interior, of course!)

What do you make of this? I wouldn't think anyone would go near the '06, considering the improvements made in '07 and '08.

???

Thanks...Joe

I'd say, give it a try. I don't think 08 will be coming as a great deal now - all dealers I've seen while searching for 07 were selling 08 for MSRP. 07s can be had for thousands under invoice - we paid 27900 for 07 Limited with MSRP over 34K, invoice is 32K. 07 Ltd with Nav & DVD was 32.5K (MSRP somewhere around 38K).

I got those for months on my 03 Legacy wagon. I finally went in to see if they would work with me on getting a new 06 wagon. They didn't. They went right to Kelly BB and said I owe more than they would pay (KBB value). Read the fine print and make sure you fall within their parameters. Good luck.

Joe,

Mesh grill can be put in '06. My '06 had the grill installed by the dealer when I purchased the car.

Interesting that they want used cars they had trouble selling. Anyone have any thoughts about this?

I'd do it in a heartbeat for the '08. As long as my payments can be the same or less, I'd do it.

Any dealers in SoCal want to take me up on this, please PM me.
