My Subaru dealer friend got to go out to Vegas to drive and check out the new models. Here is what he posted on our local forum.
"I thought I would post my times at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the Tribeca. It was 2007 vs. 2008. You can see the differences below. Did I mention it was 102 degrees? http://www.centralohiosubarus.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif
2007 Tribeca
R/T .877
60' 2.967
1/8 11.826
MPH 63.14
1/4 18.102
MPH 77.99
2008 Tribeca
R/T .466
60' 2.710
1/8 11.265
MPH 64.27
1/4 17.334
MPH 81.70
Should have had a better R/T for the 07 to make it more fair (for us 07 owners :D ).

I'm probably oversimplifying, but with the reaction time factored in, the 07 looks like it has a better 60 foot and almost identical 1/8th time. Then it runs out of gas (premium) and watches the 08 pass.

umm, reaction time has NOTHING to do with 1/4 mile times. thats a pretty big difference in 1/4 mile time, even if you factor in if they had the same 60-ft time.

Does the time start when you cross the line? I've never drag raced before.

yep. i'm not going to say 100% of the tracks are setup like that, but the NHRA tracks are. you could literally sit there once the light goes green, and your time wont start.
60-ft. time is the one to watch. the '08's ran .2 quicker than the '07's which is interesting.

Ha! Shows my ignorance. Oh well, guess I won't be challenging anyone at a red light w/ my '07... :D

I drove both an 07 and an 08 yesterday. Substantial difference in off the line oomph.
Probably has a bit to do with the 08 having a larger motor and higher tq/hp ratings ;)
