Has anyone ordered this navigation update yet?
I went to mysubaru.com yesterday and when I logged in I saw an option on the left to order the navigation update . When I clicked on it I was sent to the following link.
http://store.kenwoodusa.com/product.asp?sku=3298885
If anyone has purchased this I would like to know what you thought of it.
thanks

I believe this is the old "original" version which came with the onboard Nav system. Subaru has not yet released an update. It has been postponed a number times since last July of 2006. Last I heard it was coming out this month...oh, well :-)

I just got a reply to an email from Kenwood tech support that said the following.
Valued Customer,
Thank you for your inquiry. The version that we sell is currently 2.0, but I am unsure if this is the most recent version. Please contact Kenwood directly by dialing 1-800-536-9663 (1-800-KENWOOD), as they should be able to tell you if this is the most recent.
Regards,
Kenwood Smartermall
My disk is version 1.0 so I wonder if this isn't the new one.

When I emailed SOA, they said it could be by this summer. So I don't know if that 2.0 is the update. Maybe Subaru just takes a few months longer to announce it at their end?

I just emailed SOA and this is what I got back from them. So the question we have is 2.0 a new release. I checked my dvds and they are version 1.0.
Thank you for visiting the Subaru web site and for your message!
The 2.0 navigation DVD from Kenwood is the newest available GPS map software available. This is the first and only update disc available from Subaru since the release of the original navigation system discs.
If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to reply to this email.
Sincerely,

First and only update disc? Does that mean the only disc or the only update disc?
I really want this update ASAP as we leave on a trip in 2 weeks!
Mine current DVD says version 1.1 (east coast DVD)

In post 89, the writer says that their particular dealership confirms the DVD is an update and that they will provide it gratis. Lucky them... I have a sinking feeling that my dealership won't be so generous!
OK, I ordered it. I really hope it arrives before we leave on our big trip. We are in Canada and are driving to Florida (yes we are snowbirds). I had it sent 2'nd day delivery but it has to pass customs.
I may sell the west coast disc as we will never be using that particular area. Anyone interested?

I'd be interested in the West coast disk if you really do decide to sell it.

Here's the reply I got (I had v.1.0, so I ordered it, too :-)
"Dear Ms. Martin:
Thank you for visiting the Subaru web site and for your message!
The version that is available for purchase on Kenwood's web site is the latest version available, that includes map software updates for owners of version 1.1.
If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to reply to this email.

My wife is going to be sooo happy. I just ordered the 2.0 update DVDs too! She complains constantly about things not being on the maps. Hopefully it has our neighborhood in it. Right now it looks like we are going off-roading according to the nav when we go home.
:)
Well, It arrived today just in time for our big road trip south next Thursday...great timing.
It comes in a standard DVD case (that holds 2 dvds).
You load it in and the screen says "loading software, don't turn off power". Then it is good to go. Under the info screen it says Ver. 2 2006.
It has quite a bit more information for our little town of Summerside, PEI Canada pop 18,000. Much better roads, restaurants everything.
I can't see that the operation has changed in the little bit I played with it but I just did a quick look around on the map....dragging my finger on the touch screen. Some subtle changes may be there.
The old DVD ver 1.1 said (c) 2004 Denso Corporation data by infoUSA(c) 2003
The new DVD ver 2.0 says (c) 2006 Denso Corporation data by infoUSA(c) 2005
Not sure which date is more important but we have moved up 2 years.
I put a quick picture here (http://www3.islandtelecom.com/~myles/tribeca) at the bottom of the page.
Notice how the west coast dvd covers a whole lot more area....just missing a few states right on the east coast...while the east coast DVD just goes about halfway over. Are there that many more roads on the east coast?
I'll keep everyone posted and I'll post this message on a couple of Forums.

It'll work if you strip the headers out and then replace them with the Subaru headers.

I've read the most recent thread I see here, but that was 2007 some three long years ago, and the "latest" software at that time was what? 2006? Is there anything newer?
