So I received some news from a credible source.
The 2012 Tribeca will be its last year. :(
Get'em while they last.

At least they can still be serviced.

I suppose.....the Outback and Forester can already accomplish a lot of what a Tribeca can do. They are also going to bring the XUV over in 2012.

Tribeca has qualities and features that the forester and outback don't.
Size for one. We like the v6 as well as extra cargo space in this unique CUV.
Considering it was between the CX9, HIGHLANDER OR TRIBECA when we were looking. We keep vehicles for a while and with the Tribeca at least 7 years with the 7/100,000 mile EXTENDED WARRANTY is a given.
^ Agreed. I cross shopped those vehicles before choosing the Tribeca. It had more standard features and seemed more upscale than them as well.
With it being phased out at least some should get a really good deal on a well kept secret.

Well, if the Highlander/Tribeca combo happens in 2014, then we'll only have 1 year without it. Or maybe it'll come back with a different name.
Subaru could easily keep the Tribeca going another couple of years. Give it a freshen up with new headlights with LED, new LED taillights new panoramic roof new electric tailgate, auto lights and wipers and all of a sudden they could sell in better numbers.
In the last 6 years they have hardly added any extra features, I just don't get it!

I'm thankful I got my when I did......really did not take long for me to make a decision to buy one.......so if they do dis-continue it in 2013 or 14 too bad, it is really a good vehicle.........I keep asking the "Subaru" types why they are kicking the Tribeca to the curb, and they just look at me......unreal............bad marketing and promotion......

Probably will redesign for the later half of 2012 or for 2013 - and it will be the Highlander clone.. which could be ok with subaru parts

i'm sure we've read the same articles. wonder how true the rumor is with the tribeca/highlander clone.
i've driven the highlander and it drives great, but i have to admit quality in the beca is so much better. i'm scared toyota will get rid of all the nice materials and replace it with cheaper ones.

Yea, I'm worried about that, too. But as long as they will leave the Subaru H/Boxer engines, Symmetrical AWD systems and all the other "Subaru unique" features alone, Subaru will still be a 100x times better car than Toyota/Lexus....and I will NEVER trade an AWD Subaru for any Toyota/Lexus.
Well, unless Toyota will sabotage Subaru, which is a possibility, it's gonna be a totally different story, then I might as well walk barefoot than drive.....
I also hope that they don't steal the Subaru design and put it in their car and tell the whole world that they have the best AWD car in the market.
But in fairness to Toyota, their 4Runners, Tacomas and Tundras, are good 4WD and I said 4WD not AWD. There's nothing out there comes closer to the Subaru Symmetrical AWD. In fact, the next best thing is probably the Audi's Quattro system, in the AWD category.
Having said all that, let's just all keep this SB9T.com forum running to keep our existing Subaru Tribecas running in tip-top shape, so we won't need the cloned one.

They just need to make the Tribeca a little bigger. Take a look at the Traverse/Acadia/Encalve to get a good idea of a bigger crossover SUV. I need a bigger one and I'm force to goto a Suburban or Expedition EL since the Acadia's AWD system sucks. My wife said I might as well get another Tribeca. Except that there's almost no room w/ the 3rd row seat up and that's what I need. Just a bit more room. Subaru can add a good 1-2 feet to the car and have a slam dunk crossover SUV that can compete w/ the best. Throw in a 2nd row bucket seat option and you have a best seller.

2nd row buckets would move it closer to minivan status, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. If Subaru made a minivan, I would definitely consider buying it.

they only ever sold the Tribeca in UK from 06 - 09, and then gave it up as none were selling, is how I managed to get mine as an ex demonstrator at 1/3 normal price! But getting spares across here is a joke, the multi function display screen went down, and it was cheaper by far to import one from USA than pay 3 times as much for one here.

Why do you think they sold so poorly in UK? Price? Competition?

Price, most definatly, for an SE5 you were looking at £40 K, and it was a time when our fuel prices started to sky rocket. Plus the press didnt help, saying it was ugly, thirsty, and did not develop enough power from the engine.
To be fair, I would like the option of a manual gear shift that gets more from the H6 engine, but thats just me!

It's not just you, when the H6 came out and I drove an OB SUS (the outback sedan version we have here) it had the H6 but of course with an automatic. I liked the vehicle quite a bit and I would have gotten one is a second if it was mated with a manual. Sadly, they have never done this to my knowledge. There have been a few people to do retrofits though.

I would love to have a 6 speed manual in our Tribeca. Then we could tow it behind our motor home (we now tow a '98 Outback 5 spd).

"A 7-seat Outback will be introduced if Tribeca is discontinued for North America. We owe the North American market at least that." - A rough translation from an exec within Subaru publicly about 2 years ago

Lately, I've been thinking more about a minivan - Subaru should make an 8-passenger mini/midi-van. That would probably sell better than the Tribeca.

I think that for you guys that need a true 7 passenger, Subaru needs to extend it about 6 inches and turbo the H-6 putting like 300+ hp to the wheels would answer alot of things....it would give much more room and the additional HP, would definately help with the towing issues....or extend it about 6 inches and bring in a H-6 turbo diesel with a 5/6 speed tranny.....I would trade my 2010 Limited tomorrow if they would do that........

We need diesel engines here in the USA? ;-)
Yea same here, a diesel engine would take up over 50% of sales.
They are still advertising the Tribeca over here, we only have the 1 model now, fully kitted 7 seat for $57990 drive away. They still sell over 100 a month, not bad for a five year old model. There is a market for this type of vehicle over here.
