That makes me sad. I just bought a 2011 on Saturday.

It'll be sad if they drop it. It's been a great vehicle for me, and most Tribeca owners I know of really enjoy the vehicle.
One of my local dealers said the '08 refresh was selling substantially better than the '06/07 models, but then the $4.00/gallon gas hit in '08 and sales tanked. They never recovered from that hit.

Took my 2010 Tribeca Limited in for service yesterday, and my service manager pretty much said with the earthquake/flooding in Japan, the demand for the Legacy and Outback, that it looks like the Tribeca is dead.......we both agreed that from 2008 on, that SOA did a terrible job with marketing the Tribeca or plainly no marketing at all.......I love my 2010, and will be very sad if and when they discontinue this product.......but, I usually keep my cars 8 to 10 years so maybe they will have something even better by then....can only hope.

I suppose they will run them out the door at heavily reduced prices to get rid of them.

Probably not. They all-but-halted production of the Tribeca to meet demand for the Outback and Legacy, so dealers have very few on the lots. Low inventory will keep prices from dropping too much.

I guess that makes you buyer #910 to purchase one in 2011.
We actually paid over list on it. We heard how hard they are to get which makes sense because I never see them... we paid $37k for a limited with moon roof and bluetooth. It is the last one available in my town. The more I think about it the cooler that makes it :-) I'm not sad anymore.
Over here in Australia they still sell around 100-150 a month, that has been a consistent number for 5 years now. No shortage over here and only last week Subaru Australia are still advertising them in the papers.
Don't give up yet, they might have stopped development because Toyota will develop the car for them. Makes sense, Subaru still need a 7 seater in the range, every other manufacturer has one.

Hmm, this is a good point. Maybe they were just stating that Tribeca R&D *for Subaru* and production *in SIA* were ceasing. As Hum says, they might be doing the reverse of the RWD coupe - instead of Subaru designing for Toyota, Toyota's designing for Subaru this time, and it'll probably be built on the same line as the Highlander.
Edit: Even if Toyota builds it, it'll still be in Indiana, but Princeton rather than Lafayette:

so dumb though.. the outback and leggy werent that popular until they made a really good product and then sales went up 100%... same with the new forester, before its current look, it was a nobody... why cant they think the same way for the Tribeca? Move on from the past perhaps...?

IMO, the Outback will get a little bigger to replace the Tribeca. Who knows, a third row may be in store for a future Outback.

One can only hope; it only makes sense to me, and if you called it something different than an Outback.
Maybe a Tri-Back-A? :D
I'm sorry.

terrific.....when a manufacture discontinues a vehicle the parts prices skyrocket.

SOA_Blog, over on NASIOC, said that the death of Tribeca was just a rumor. Subaru hasn't announced anything.

can we all write a letter stressing the tribecas importance to subaru and how it should be reinvented, not killed?

Internation Motors (UK Subaru) have stopped importing the Tribeca due to poor sales. This happened a while back.
To have the tribeca in the UK it really needs a good diesel engine. I replace my XC90with a tribeca and have no regrets.

It will be sad to see Tribeca getting canned but on the other hand it means that I'll be amongst the limited number of lucky ones who got one. That works for me :)

Curious what kind of importance you're referring to. If this is the one about a relatively small group of Subaru loyalists who happen to need a bigger car then I don't think they care much about it.

It's hard to rationalize keeping it going with the dismal sales. They need to redesign it and release the new model in 2013 or 2014 with alot of hype and advertising to get people in the doors to look at it. If I've ever seen a Tribeca commercial, I don't remember it.

Advertising has been Subaru's weakness for a long time. They do pretty good at magazine ads for the STI, and a few for the Legacy & Forester, but the Tribeca has been completely ignored. I don't believe I've ever seen a TV or print ad for Tribeca either.
It's almost like they WANT it to fail.
