When I put it in drive and accelerate quick or reverse on an incline and hit the gas a little harder there is a right front end clicking.
I have 11,000 miles on 09 and don't know what it could be.
Read a few posts here about bushings or struts.
Just wonder if anyone has idea before going to dealer, I am still under warranty but just wondering.

its your front struts/bushings.. happens on AWD vehicles.. not a big deal :)

Is that normal that it happens or need to be replaced at 11,000 miles in a one year old vehicle?
If it's the latter, not good in the longevity department on a vehicle that sees smooth surface roads all the time.

This only happens on mine once when placed in drive once only and never again no matter how much stop and go after that no clicking. Now, When shift to reverse it will do it 2-3 times on incline especially in reverse when you hit accelerator click sound each time hit accelerator.
Is this normal on 08 TRIBECA and up is the 1 million dollar question?
ANY INPUT GREATLY APPRECIATED?
Doesn't the Outback 3.6liter have the same transmission as the TRIBECA, wonder if it does if it makes same sound?

Well got off of phone with service adviser and will check vehicle.
I was told that has had 2 that did that and one was person working for dealership. Checked out both and found nothing wrong and maybe normal for that vehicle to click like that especially in reverse on incline when hitting acceleration each time.
I would like to know from members here with new new body style tribeca if they have noticed this as well?
You have to hit accelerator harder then usual when first in drive and hear click once and when in reverse here click again when applying accelerator. Drop windows to get a better evaluation.
Hard to believe it is not something in transmission due to happening when shifting and then HEAR IT ONLY WHEN applying gas pedal.

idk if its normal but i know usually the clicking is the struts or bushings and its normal for awd vehicles. maybe its just the incline? hopeuflly the dealer will figure it out, take them for a ride to show what you mean

My clunk is still present as described above ONE IN FRONT AND ONE IN REAR OF VEHICLE AFTER PLACED IN GEAR AND GO reverse or forward. Was told by dealer that allot of the TRIBECAS do it, they say they don't know what it could be after tightening up axle nuts, and checking all the breaks.
Not good and very frustrating in a one year old vehicle, clunk has been there since 3rd month of ownership.
If anyone has a dealer who has an idea, please ask and tell me?

i had the same problem. dealer changed both rear axles. still has the same issue. i dont know what causing it.
odd that they haven't pulled out the trusty mechanic's stethoscope and tracked that bugger down yet.

Its not the engine but something engaging when placed in gear in this auto trans.
If I place in D front clunk then rear clunk a split second later, if in reverse I hear rear first then front. That is on spirited acceleration meaning not like a granny.
I have noticed that when I place it in gear and don't hit accelerator harder then usual and after 100 yards I hit accelerator I hear that click.
I was told at dealer that they can't find anything wrong and they/I can recreate sound at will.
Get in TRIBECA place car in D gear but keep foot on brake and hit accelerator, I hear front and then rear clink. The sounds reverse order when doing this in R gear WHEN right foot hit accelerator the left foot on break. This recreates sound heard when car is moving.
They don't know what does it, supposedly. I just hope it is not the axles.
I DO WANT TO KNOW WHAT DOES IT?
Since there are two distinct noises, front and rear, a laymen mechanic like me would say it must be the front and rear differentials or the axel. Are there any related drivability issues other than the noise?
It looks like they're saying you'll have to live with it if there's no problem other than the noise. That wouldn't be an acceptable 'solution' in my opinion either.

Only the click, no drive issue.
If I put it in drive and easy driving, it is never heard. I have a steep driveway and park it in reverse next to my truck (so easy in and out for both). Under load in Reverse I started hearing it when under load on that incline at 3-4,000 miles (I am at 14,000 now). When in R first click in rear and then front click. Could calipers or breaks do that. They CHECKED BREAKS AND EVERYTHING and telling me its not the differentials (which is where my mind went to first). Weird how they can recreate but can't diagnose!
Tech is a good guy, but I'd like to know whats causing it.
I have 7/100,000 warranty but still am annoyed by this sound.
This is why I am asking all the 08 and newer TRIBECA owners here?
There is another member who asked same question EXACTLY here like mine, IF YOU SEARCH clunk, clink, YOU WILL READ HIS AS well.

I think i have the same sound, but mine also does the sound when i go over some speed bumps too. I brought it to the dealer and they said it was because of the breaks... I am not buying it.
