Ok,
My girlfriend was driving in bumper to bumper traffic and got rear ended. Not the end of the world, but really annoying. I looked it over and the bumper needs, at the very least, to be repainted. You can see spidering in the paint. As for the clips that hold it below, that will be determined in daylight.

The State Trooper said we have to send a self addressed stamped envelope in order to get the report. So that alone will take a week or more.

I figure I'll drop the B9 off at the dealer to inspect it tomorrow to get a soft estimate.

Question for all of you out there. How soon does she have to call it in to insurance?

Of course this is the second accident on the same part in one year. If we get into one more, this will be traded in.

How is trading it in related to one more accident? It's the lousy drivers out there that keep hitting you. You shouldn't need to trade in your vehicle because other people are being stupid. If you get a new vehicle, then you'll be even more frustrated about people hitting your newer vehicle.

Face it, our vehicles will never stay perfect. It's all those people who don't pay attention in car lots and smack their doors into other cars when getting in or out. It's those people who let cell phones, texting, radios, kids, etc. distract them from paying attention to traffic. It's all those people who don't pay attention to the road in front of them. Stupid people do stupid things.

Buying a new car won't suddenly make stupid people any smarter. You just have to drive smarter and park smarter to minimize the chance of damage, though, even then, you'll eventually get hit by something.

I had a young kid panic-brake (light just turned yellow - new driver panicked) in front of me. He was in a BMW Z4. Physics wouldn't allow my 4200 lb Tribeca to stop as quickly as his tin can with good brakes, so I smacked him in the rear. It left a scuff from the outline of his license plate surround my bumper, but it crushed his rear end, bumper, and quarter panel. He couldn't drive his, while I had almost nothing on my car. I didn't even file a claim for damage with my insurance. Unfortunately, because GA is not a no-fault state, I got stuck with the insurance bill for his stupidity (and a ticket for "following too closely"). Stupid people do stupid things, and we suffer from their stupidity. Many people on the roads today should never have been let behind a wheel.

But it's not related to people. This past December I had a deer jump in front of me. The deer did a whole lot more damage than the Z4 (they're built more sturdily than BMW Z4s apparently), but I was surprised how small the damage appeared. Tribecas are built tough!

It has nothing to do about keeping the B9 pristine. Although I'd like it to stay that way. We figure if the car keeps getting into accidents in a relatively short period of time, fate is telling us that this car wasn't meant for us. Trust me we'd rather keep our B9 forever.

It was a stupid kid driving their parent's brand new Range Rover.

We called in the accident and going to get an estimate tomorrow. I'll be sure to update the thread.

I look at the other way: I'd rather be hit in my Tribeca than any other vehicle. If I had hit that deer with my Legacy, it probably would have come up over the hood and done much more damage. If I had hit the Z4 with my Legacy, it would have been much more damage.

Count it a blessing for your girlfriend to have been in your Tribeca when she got hit.

Do you have a trailer hitch? That gives more strength for the rear when getting hit (besides being useful for trailers).

i think it means your B9 is safe..and its not your fault..its always someone else so i wouldnt trade if your happy with it...
good thing no one was hurt tho...what kind of car hit your B9? I had a Bmw Z3 and i have one now, one died due to an accident..my son did a 180 and struck a guardrail that just came out of no where, as for the second one which is much better.. has the 6cyl vs the deads 4cyl...its still alive and away from my son :)

nvm I see it was a Rover...damnn...ehh he wont be driving it too much anymore.. :). its kinda funny when kids crash (and are fine and unharmed!) they get all scared cuz they know they are soooo screwed.
and i see the B9s are attracted to these luxury vehicles..
