Waiting for them to show up at the dealer. Then I'll be checking out an Outback (my '98 OBW only has 119,000+ miles).

I've seen and sat in both. At the time, they were still Manufacturer Demos so no one was allowed to drive them. Insanely roomy and fit and finish was great. My gf loved the new Leggy and she somewhat contemplated trading in the B9 for a 2.5GT, but we are waiting to see the 3.6R.

A CVT option on the 2.5i and framed windows? Looks like an 8 year old Audi A6 Avant at a glance. Not that that's a bad thing.

I've driven Nissan's CVT. Very smooth, no gear hunting especially on hills, but NOT exciting.

whats so great about a CVT..?

CVTs are continuously variable...hence the name;) Well they obviously don't have a set # of forward gears (ie: 4 or 5 speed tranny) so in theory a CVT transmission can keep the engine in the ideal RPM range for the driving situation and react quicker. Obviously that all depends on the programming of the unit...and most CVTs are programmed to err on the side of fuel economy by keeping engine RPMs lower but if you step on the gas, it should be able to nearly instantly lower the gearing to give you more grunt. Again, this all in "theory". If you get Subaru's "Drive" owner's magazine the latest issue (got one last week) has an article on the 2010 Leggys and Outbacks and a separate article just on the CVT which really explains how it works nicely.

they had a 2010 outback at my dealer a week or so ago when we bought our new Tribeca. i liked everything about the OB, except the interior trim on the one we saw. it was a limited and had the cheesiest fake wood trim that i think i've seen! of course that is just personal taste. the car had great fit and finish.

I drove the new Outback at my local dealer's "see the new 2010 car event. It is quite weird to accelerate and the engine is constantly at around 5000RPM, but the car keeps going faster and faster. It is much smoother than any automatic transmission could be.
The 2010 Outback is a nice step up from the older models. They finally made it taller which is nice for me since in the '02 Outback we have, I cannot sit up straight since I have a long torso. I drove the limited model, and did not like the gauges at all. Many car manufacturers are going with white or gray gauges with black letters which is completely the wrong way it should be.
It was smoother than the older Outback, and not a bad car. They will sell a lot of them. From what I have heard the GPS is a pretty good one, with Bluetooth, and voice recognition.

Hmmm, didn't see a 2010 car event locally here. I want to drive the Leggy, but have no intention of buying anything for a few years.

When the demos first came out, the dealer told me no HIDs again!

sayy what?? no!! how can they not have them by now..
snork

Yeah, I dunno why no HIDs given the car already has projectors...at least put them in the Limited or GT models!
Magic, I think the only place local to us to have the demo was Bill Kolb, Jr over in Rockland county...I got an email from them, but it was last month.

I did think that the new Outback was nice, but certainly not of Luxury level. It is a good upper-middle class car, but does not have the "polish" that a luxury car should have.
Of course the price would go way up for it to be a posh car anyways, so I would rather have something at its price point.
The cool part is that they have different levels of the car to meet the different price points. If you want a very good, but basic Outback, you can still get that.

What's with all the Honda CRV-like bumps on the rocker panels? Oh yeah, it makes it look "rugged". Just more edges to wear and try to clean I say.
Haven't seen one yet in person, not quite convinced of the styling yet- I'll reserve final judgement until then.

Yeah, I got our B9 @ BKJr. They definitely have the biggest selection of used Subies and I like their no-haggle pricing. I'll probably be looking to get 2010 Leggy their sometime around next Christmas to replace my Accord daily commuter:)
I haven't gone there for service though, but they seem to have a nice shop and have scheduled loaners if needed.

Yeah they have good prices and good selection near me in Rockland, i keep it serviced there and its been ok, they can be alittle sloppy. Once they didnt tighten a cap from my oil change and oil was dripping out, but otherweise they are pretty good, loaners are great, i think they are something like $10 a day but they try to keep my happy and on big services ( which i have one coming soon..), i get them for free. I plan on getting this big service over with sometime next month when i have time and hopefully i will get a loaner 2010 leggy or outback :D

I've got an '08 Nissan Altima with the CVT. Gotta tell ya, I'm not sold on it yet. While very smooth, it feels like I'm driving a sewing machine. I'd prefer to know where the tranny is shifting....maybe just old school. I'd also like to know how they will hold up.

Did any of you get the SOA invitation to visit your local Subaru for refreshments and a test drive in the new Leggy? I got one and when I go, I got a coupon for a free oil change.

Waiting for an Outback with a 6 spd manual and direct injection. Maybe next year? As it is my '98 OBW Ltd 5 speed is only driven maybe once a week (it is our towed vehicle behind the motor home). But miles are getting closer to 120,000.

i would not get a 2010 Outback not matter the ratings b/c it isnt ready...like there is no more giant sunroof like previous models, and SI-Drive and they prob gonna put rear airvents where there is a whole where most cars put rear airvents
