On the Outback forum, several H6 users have reported no problems using the 5w-40 oil, so I don't see why it would be an issue in the Tribeca. Personally, I'd use it if the price was right.

I have an LGT and Tribeca. My LGT likes the Rotella, but I don't think it is appropriate for the H6. Thicker and formulaed for higher heat.

I personally put the synthetic 5W-30 in my beca, and try to keep Rotella T6 in the LGT, but when I am forced to pick one oil for both, I use the 5W-30, usually quaker state full synthetic 5W-30 from walmart, for both. It's less than the T6 (T6 is 4 qts, Quaker is 5 QTs. Similar price, but 1/5th as much oil).

i am currently using Shell Formula full synthetic 5W30 on the EZ30r h6 on the beca and the rotella t6 in my VW 2.0t the rotella has been the best performing oil on that car on my opinion .my beca just turned 90k miles old. so i was thinking on a thicker oil to compensate for wear,i have maintained the tribeca like a baby 3k oil changes like clock work i love this car

Invest in a UOA (or a couple of UOAs), if your plan for the vehicle is for it to stay with you for a long time.

Every engine is just a little different.

^ It's always best to have some quantifiable data.

I think it's very important for those who have tuned their vehicle looking for higher performance as well as for those who intend to simply keep their vehicle for a long time.

Not only can a UOA tell if your engine likes the lube it's drinking, it can also help you much better budget vehicle maintenance as it can provide a definitive guide to your oil-change-interval (OCI).

I will probably do a 5k miles run with the full synthetic 5w30 shell formula i just put in and see how the wear numbers are showing on UOA.then make adjusments in oil weight /composition and OCI accordingly

Ops, looks like they have run out on prime. I just ordered 2 gallons, wish I had gotten more! Gotta keep an eye on it. Price was $21.74/gallon free shipping to your door if you order 2.

My local store rarely has it on the shelf, and I have to pay taxes on it.

I have run T6 in our Tribeca exclusively for the past 100k miles. Before the end of October we will be at 200k miles on the car. Engine runs smoothly with only a minor ticking on startup. Burns/loses less than 1/2 qt between changes. Highly recommend this oil.
