Default Rust Problem discovered ??

Hey folks, last april, i bought a 2010 Tribeca
i noticed last week that there is some rust on the door/window pillar in the interior
see the attached pics. I might not call this part the correct name tho...

Is there a way for me to stop the rust, or it's too bad for me.. it pisses me off

Cauz i really didn't looked there when i bought and inspected the car and now i'm affraid i will have to repair or replace?? that part (If it is replaceable)

Is it a known problem? (searched and found nothing)

Problem appears on all the 4 doors

other wise car have no rust at all

thanks!

your pictures are so close up it's hard to see context and location outside of that one.

but yes - I would address that immediately, it's still to the point I think you could significantly mitigate that. rust at the seams like that has a way of being impossible to slow down once it gets down into those joints.

remove rust, treat with POR-15 or some other high quality (not the store bought cans of "rust prevention") rust treatment, then touch up paint.

Agreed with POR15.

It's the only stuff I've used that works.

At least it's a door and if you can find a new one in a Junkyard eventually, you can just unbolt it and solve the problem.

I have the same problem with my drivers door on my 06. It has lived it's entire life in PA and it is the only rust on it. I will be doing the POR15 treatment after cleaning off the rust when I get back to the states. Has to be done before another salt filled winter!

A quick update, i will try explain my best , since english is not my primary language.
I bought the car from a Subaru Dealer Last april 28Th, the dealer did not mention about that problem, and i never saw it (was covered with paint), i Wouldn't have buy the car if i saw that or knew it
Here in Québec, we have a consumer protection that cover us against hidden defect, and Failure to mention the problem, i called them, and The law applies to my case so I am entitled to demand compensation like replacement of the 4 doors, since it's a job that would cost me around 3-4k. I wrote them and wait for their response, if i'm not satisfied or don't get repair, I can file an official complaint.
I should get a reply next week, i can't wait to see what they will tell me...

Well i talked with the owner of the subaru dealership, he called subaru canada to see if something can be made, and nothing can be done for me from Subaru Canada, and the Subaru Dealer...
Looks like i will have to make my complaint official, and go with the procedure...
